UK & Irish Horse Racing Tips: Friday 20 January 2017

Five race meetings take place on the afternoon and evening of Friday 20th January 2017.

There will be National Hunt meetings at Musselburgh and Chepstow on Friday afternoon, while a card of all weather racing is scheduled to take place at Lingfield Park.

In the evening, all weather flat racing under lights is scheduled in Wolverhampton and across the Irish Sea in Dundalk.

Fortuno, fresh from picking a couple of winners on Thursday, and one placed selection, from a pack of seven tips, has again been through the day’s cards with an eye for value.

Nap of the Day is a bit of a steamer in the early markets: Court Frontier in the 3.20 at Chepstow. This was available at 20/1 in places where early prices were put up, but that has been taken, and the selection is now still each way value at 6/1. This 9 year old gelding has made the frame on 50% of his chase starts, but does need to be forgiven a below par effort last time out, when he was pulled up. Trained by Paul Morgan and ridden by Denis O’Reagan, today’s race is a little bit weaker than his usual fare, so, is good enough if fit and raring to go.

Next Best for Friday is Robot Boy which is currently 12/1 to take the 2.35 at Lingfield. A solid each-way opportunity is on the cards for this one providing he comes back from a 90 day break fit and well. Won a big 5f event at York in October, and can also go well over today’s 6f trip, so a double figure price has to be considered value. David Barron, who trains, is good at producing horses for races like this, and Philip Makin on board is canny enough to plot a passage from a wide draw which must be considered the main negative today. If things drop right today, has the talent to win this race, at an attractive price.
