UK & Irish Horse Racing Tips: Friday 16 December 2016

There are five race meetings on Friday 16th December 2016.

The afternoon will see National Hunt meeting at Uttoxeter, a card of jumps at Ascot and an All Weather flat meeting at Newcastle. There will be an early evening meeting at Wolverhampton, starting at 3.45pm, while over in Ireland, the usual Friday evening fare of all weather flat racing at Dundalk will run from 5.30 to 9.00pm.

Fresh from tipping winners at 9/2 and 12/1 yesterdayFortuno has again marked your card with five selections for Friday’s racing.

The Nap of the Day is the only one of today’s tips to run over the jumps. Fortunate George looks well in in the 3.05 at Ascot, and, having had an admitedly below par reappearance at Cheltenham last month, is taken to improve for the run and provide good value for an early morning price of 9/1. This lightly raced Emma Lavelle trained horse showed a nice profile last season, improving each time before landing a novice hurdle at Wincanton over roughly today’s trip. Under jockey Graham Watters today, the conditions are largely similar to that success.

Next Best for Friday is one of three tips at Dundalk’s evening card, and is another which offers early morning each-way value: Split the Atom in the 8.30 6f Handicap event at Dundalk. This horse has only ever won at Dundalk, and has been running creditably without making the frame of late. With three 6f wins to his name, looks good on paper to go a couple of places better than last time out (over 5f) and at least make the frame under Killian Leonard’s useful five pound claim. Early prices around 11/1 have been snapped up and this horse now trades at 8/1, which still feels like good value.

The rest of today’s tips are detailed below.
