UK Horse Racing Tips, Tuesday 16 June 2015 – Royal Ascot Day 1

The first day of Royal Ascot 2015 takes place on the afternoon of Tuesday 16th June.

There is also British horse racing in the afternoon at Thirsk and Stratford (National Hunt), as well as two evening meetings, at Beverley and Brighton.

Best Four Bets

As with each day when we ask The Global Herald’s rating experts to run through the racecards, we’ve asked for the day’s Best Four Bets for Tuesday, which are as follows.

Stratford 16:35 – Knockyoursocksoff. We think that the form of this horse’s second at Fontwell last week is enough to suggest a win today by a good margin. Barring significant improvement from the field, a price of 6/4 looks to be the value of the day.

Also at Stratford, we like Vaillant Nonantais in the 17:10 bumper event. This Nicky Henderson trained gelding should strip fitter for his previous run and may, as a result, be a good foil for the likely odds on favourite, Amirr who runs for John Ferguson and has not been seen on course since February. Ferguson has seen similar short-priced favourites beaten this week, and a price of 2-1 on Vaillant Nonantais seems to be a worthwhile speculative bet as a result. The stopwatch says Henderson’s has shown more on course to date.

Our third choice for the day runs at Beverley, in the 18:15, and is the Mark Johnston trained Tawakkol. This horse is expected to touch odds-on and will be a popular bet with the Yorkshire crowd for the Middleham yard – with good reason: this horse has consistently clocked good enough times to suggest this race is well within the grasp.

The final selection for Tuesday is Raj To Riches which runs in the 18:30 at Brighton for PD Evans, at a likely price of 15/8. This colt has had plenty of chances, but has shown enough on course to suggest that he can lift a maiden at this grade. One to watch out for is the Mark Johnston trained newcomer, Whitman, which looks the most likely to push Raj To Riches to the line.
