UK Horse Racing Tips: Monday 19 December 2016

Just the three race meetings take place on the afternoon of Monday 19th December 2016 in the UK, when National Hunt cards at Hereford, Ayr and an all weather flat meeting at Chelmsford City are due to take place.

Fortuno has cast his expert eye over the runners and riders for every race, to arrive at four tips for today’s racing, which are detailed below.

The Nap of the Day for Monday runs in the 4.20 at Chelmsford City. Skidby Mill will be ridden by George Baker for Laura Mongan, and is an early morning price of 9/2 to land this 1m Handicap event. This horse is good on the all-weather, as he showed on Thursday under a good ride from the same jockey, leading from the front. With the withdrawal of last week’s runner up from that race, Almanack, this horse would only need to maintain that form to go close under a 6lb rise in the weights.

The Next Best for Monday is given as a bit more value for each-way followers. Moon Indigo is making a first appearance for Rebecca Menzies after more than two years off the track in the 2.30 at Ayr. This ten year old has won similar hurdles events under almost a stone higher weights, so if stripping fit after so long off the course, could be expected to make the frame at least. The question mark is what condition the horse is in, but a little bit of early morning money may allay those fears. Good enough if fit enough.

The other two selections for Monday both look like they may start as favourites: Lost the Moon (4.50 Chelmsford City) and Acting Lass (1.05 Hereford) round out the selections for Monday’s racing.

All four tips with their early morning prices are detailed below.

UK Horse Racing Tips: Monday 19 December 2016

  • 1.05 Hereford – Acting Lass – 11/8
  • 2.30 Ayr – Moon Indogo – 12/1 NB
  • 4.20 Chelmsford City – Skidby Mill – 9/2 NAP
  • 4.50 Chelmsford City – Lost The Moon – 2/1
