Alenquer continues the sensational run of the red-hot William Haggas and Tom Marquand combination with a thrilling Group 1 success in the Tattersalls Gold Cup at the Curragh in the highlight for the older horses on the final day of the 2022 Tattersalls Irish Guineas Festival.

Marquand had never ridden at the Curragh before this, yet remarkably the rider scored top-level honours on his first spin at Irish Flat racing headquarters as Alenquer showed his class and no little grit and application to strike for a memorable top-level success.
