The Cheltenham Festival’s winning-most trainer Nicky Henderson opened his account at the 2012 meeting when Simonsig landed the odds in the Racing Post Arkle Challenge Trophy.

It wasn’t all plain sailing for the flashy grey though, as the 8-15 favourite was made to work for it as he fended off the challenge of outsider Baily Green.

Simonsig was already a previous Festival winner, having claimed the Neptune Investment Management Novices’ Hurdle 12 months prior, but this would prove to be his final ever victory due to a career plagued by injury.
