Wow.
£570,000 purchase Jonbon has always had a huge reputation thanks to his huge price-tag and being a brother to none other than Douvan, the eight-time Grade 1 winner and a horse described by atrick Mullins as the most talented horse to be trained at the famous Closutton stables of his father and perennial Irish Champion trainer Willie Mullins.
Jonbon is certainly bred for the job and is unbeaten in one point-to-point start followed by an easy bumper success at Newbury on his Rules debut back in the spring, his first appearance for trainer NIcky Henderson and in the silks of leading owner J P McManus.
Jonbon looked keen to get on with things on his anticipated hurdles debut here, but jumped with real class and composure and powered clear from the classy No Risk At All in an effortless start to his hurdling career that augured at potentially huge things in the future.
Enjoy the whole race in full – and something of a very leisurely start as the tapes wenty up! – while our experts Lydia Hislop, Martin Dixon and Nick Luck share their pre-race views and post-race thoughts on what could be a very exciting prospect and potential future star of the National Hunt game.
