In This Story: Ireland

Ireland is an island in the North Atlantic. It is separated from Great Britain to its east by the North Channel, the Irish Sea, and St George’s Channel.

Geopolitically, Ireland is divided between the Republic of Ireland (officially named Ireland), which covers five-sixths of the island, and Northern Ireland, which is part of the United Kingdom. As of 2016, 4.8 million people live in the Republic of Ireland, and 1.8 million live in Northern Ireland.

The Irish climate is influenced by the Atlantic Ocean and thus very moderate, and winters are milder than expected for such a northerly area, although summers are cooler than those in continental Europe. Rainfall and cloud cover are abundant.

A strong Irish culture exists, as expressed through Gaelic games, Irish music and the Irish language. The island’s culture shares many features with that of Great Britain, including the English language, and sports such as association football, rugby, horse racing, and golf.

  1. Tuesday 31 August 2021 I have been a subscriber to racing TV and its predecessors. I love British horseracing, the horses, their breeding and their lives, but do not bet. I am also 76 years of age living on a state pension plus small savings – a total of under £10,000 a year. The fact that I subscribe shows my love of the racehorse.
    I wish to complain.
As usual most of my viewing is now with replays (using racecards screen shot on my elderly ipad) and yesterday the replay for Epsom and Cartmel was a shabbles. The 1hour 30 minutes replay started with Irish racing from Roscommon and did not show the English racing from Epsom until 31 minutes into the time slot. This meant Cartmel (my reason to watch) did not begin until 1hour and 8 minutes into the time “allowed” The fourth race of the day, the 4.05 ended just before the finish.
Cursing I then hoped to find the remaining 3 races on the Irish Replay schedule.. Luckily I found YOUR errors before the 9am Irish Racing replay and was able to watch and then finish this email
This particular error of shambolic dividing between Racing replay and Irish Racing replay is not the first occasion but it is the first time I have tried to complain. Why does it matter? It does and seems such an elementary error it is more annoying
Often I have wondered if your staff actually like horses, as there are so many of pictures of talking heads in the studio when horses could be shown in the paddock or going down. Human faces are not necessary or wanted.
A similar example is when retired past champions come to Aintree or Cheltenham and are rarely shown to the viewer. Something that ITV seems to manage.
