Cheltenham Festival 2021 Tips – Tuesday 16 March

Cheltenham Festival 2021 kicks off under the new normal “behind closed doors” conditions, on Champion Hurdle Tuesday 16th March.

The Global Herald, as so often, has had ratings experts pore over the cards, seeking value for the day’s racing, for fans of the biggest National Hunt Festival in the world.

Tuesday 16 March 2021 Cheltenham Tips

  • 1.30 – Soaring Glory (IRE)
  • 1.55 – Shishkin (IRE)
  • 2.30 – Happygolucky (IRE)
  • 3.05 – Not So Sleepy (GB)
  • 3.40 – Concertista (FR) (NAP)
  • 4.15 – Druid’s Altar (IRE)
  • 4.50 – Eden Du Houx (FR)

Tuesday’s Cheltenham NAP

The NAP for Tuesday is the Willie Mullins trained likely favourite for the Mare’s Hurdle, CONCERTISTA. At a shade of odds-on, it’s not going to break the bank, but this will likely take some stopping under Paul Townsend.

Champion Hurdle 2021 Tip

In the Champion Hurdle itself, at 3.05, the selection is at the other end of the market: Hughie Morrison’s unexposed 9 year old, Not So Sleepy is likely to go off at around 50/1, and will need to get his own way at the head of affairs, as he did on heavy going last time out at Ascot. A repeat of that performance, on soft ground, could show great returns for each-way supporters at a very long price. Not without risk, though.

Next Best Bet – Tuesday’s Banker

Those looking for more certainty may like the look of Shishkin, in the Arkle Chase. This one was a doughty winner in last year’s Supreme Novices, and has looked an even better chaser. That race last year was tougher than this one looks on paper. Barring accidents, this Nicky Henderson gelding is a class above the rest, in this.
