Brilliant two-year-old Tiggy Wiggy dominates in the Lowther Stakes (2014) Racing TV

Racing TV published this video item, entitled “Brilliant two-year-old Tiggy Wiggy dominates in the Lowther Stakes (2014) Racing TV” – below is their description.

What a likeable, tough and professional filly she was – the loveable Tiggy Wiggy breaks well and is not for passing for a fine success in the Group Two Lowther Stakes at the Ebotr Festival for jockey Richard Hughes and trainer Richard Hannon at York.

This was remarkably the seventh start of Tiggy Wiggy’s juvenile career, which began on the all-weather at Kempton at the end of March. She had eight starts in all as a two-year-old, signing off with Group One victory in the Cheveley Park Stakes at Newmarket.

Tiggy Wiggy did not win in three subsequent starts as a three-year-old, but she did she finish third in the 1,000 Guineas at Newmarket behind the David Wachman-trained Legatissimo, a top-class filly who went on to land more Group One honours in the Nassau Stakes at Glorious Goodwood and the Matron Stakes on what is now Irish Champions Weekend. She was a narrow second too in another three top-level races – the Oaks, Pretty Polly Stakes and Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf at Keeneland.

Purchased for £41,000 ahead of her racing career, the champion two-year-old filly and joint-champion European two-year-old filly fetched 2.1m gns when bought by Coolmore as a broodmare.

Tiggy Wiggy has foaled two colts by Galileo, who were both winners – Southern Cape, trained by Donnacha O’Brien, and the Group One-placed Year Of Tiger trained by Aidan O’Brien.

In This Story: Ireland

Ireland is an island in the North Atlantic. It is separated from Great Britain to its east by the North Channel, the Irish Sea, and St George’s Channel.

Geopolitically, Ireland is divided between the Republic of Ireland (officially named Ireland), which covers five-sixths of the island, and Northern Ireland, which is part of the United Kingdom. As of 2016, 4.8 million people live in the Republic of Ireland, and 1.8 million live in Northern Ireland.

The Irish climate is influenced by the Atlantic Ocean and thus very moderate, and winters are milder than expected for such a northerly area, although summers are cooler than those in continental Europe. Rainfall and cloud cover are abundant.

A strong Irish culture exists, as expressed through Gaelic games, Irish music and the Irish language. The island’s culture shares many features with that of Great Britain, including the English language, and sports such as association football, rugby, horse racing, and golf.
