Football: UEFA Europa League Results, Thursday 17 February 2011

The remaining fifteen of the sixteen first leg matches in the Round of 32 phase of the UEFA Europa League knockout stages took place on Thursday 17th February 2011.

Most of the ties remain open, however Ajax, who won 3-0 away at Anderlecht, look to have done enough in the opening leg to be reasonably sure of progressing. Other teams who put one foot in the next round are Dynamo Kiev, who won 4-1 away at Besiktas, and Bayer Leverkusen, who collected a 4-0 win on their trip to FC Metalist Kharkiv. FC Twente’s 2-0 away win at Rubin Kazan gives them a great chance of qualification too.

Everything is to play for in the remaining ties, however, as there is a goal or less between the sides in 12 of the 16 second leg games (including Man City and Aris Salonika, who played their 0-0 opening leg on Tuesday evening) to be played. UEFA Europa League holds plenty of excitement for 24 sets of fans around Europe.
