Football: UEFA Champions League Results, Tuesday 15 February 2011

The first two Round of 16 UEFA Champions League 2011 matches took place on the evening of Tuesday 15th February 2011 in Spain and Italy, as the opening legs of AC Milan v Tottenham and Valencia v Schalke took place.

AC Milan 0-1 Tottenham

Spurs started brightly in the San Siro, but both sides came in at 0-0 at half time. AC Milan came out stronger in the second half, and Gomes in the Tottenham net had to be in top form to produce a couple of fine saves before Peter Crouch scored the winning goal for Tottenham on 80 minutes after a great run from the impressive Aaron Lennon. Milan put the ball in the back of the Tottenham net in the final moments, but the goal was disallowed for a push on Michael Dawson who had an admirable match as captain at the heart of Spurs’ defence.

Valencia 1-1 Schalke 04

Valencia got off to the best possible of starts in their match against Schalke, when Soldado scored on 17 minutes, but the home side were pegged back by an important away goal from the ever-green Raul who scored on 63 minutes on his first return to Spanish soil since leaving Real Madrid. The goal was Raul’s 70th European strike.

  1. EUAFA must punish Gatuso in particular and other Millan players for their shameful display of indiscipline and rough play during their Champions League 1st leg match. The center Referee should also be disciplined for his poor handling of the match.
