Football: Rubin Kazan 0-0 Panathinaikos UEFA Champions League Group D Match Report

In Tartarstan, FC Rubin Kazan and FC Panathinaikos played out a goalless draw in their UEFA Champions League Group D clash last night.

The travelling Greek side will be thankful for the fine form of their goalkeeper, Alexandros Tzorvas, who saved well with his feet on more than one occasion as the hosts looked to have done enough for their first victory in the group phase.

Rubin hit the target eight times – twice as many times as their opponents – but failed to get the goal that would have seen their hopes of qualification improve dramatically.

As it is, both of these sides look to be heading out of the competition unless they can produce back-to-back wins against FC Barcelona and FC Copenhagen.
