Football: Aston Villa Lose Petrov for Two Months to Knee Injury

According to the club website, Stilian Petrov, the hard working Aston Villa midfielder, will miss at least two months as a result of the knee injury he picked up during Saturday’s Barclays Premier League 1-0 loss to Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.

It is not yet clear whether Petrov, who is 31 years old, will require an operation to repair the damage to his knee, but Villa manager, Gerard Houllier said:

“We will know whether he needs an operation by the middle of the week.

It’s a shame because he [Petrov] was getting back to a good level.”
