The World Cup will take place in November of 2022 and is hosted by Qatar.
Usually, World Cups take place in European summer time – around June – but in 2022, the tournament will be a little later in the year, starting in November and finishing the day after Christmas Day, 26 December, owing to the high temperatures experienced in the middle east during summer months.
Important dates to put on our calendars are when games start for the World Cup (November 21st 2022) until when it ends (December 26th 2022).
FIFA has confirmed that the tournament will be expanded from 32 teams to 48 teams for 2026 with Qatar World Cup 2022 to be the first World Cup with 48 teams.
