The 2010 Champions of Europe last night made the 2010 FIFA Club World Cup Final, courtesy of a solid 3-0 win against Seongnam Chunma, of South Korea.
Inter secured their win with goals from:
- Dejan STANKOVIC (3′)
- Javier ZANETTI (32′)
- Diego MILITO (73′)
The match was all but wrapped at half time, as Inter built on their third minute Stankovic opener just after the half time, with a cool Zanetti finish.
Diego Milito secured the result with a 74th minute goal, which means Inter will play TP Mazembe, the African Champions of 2009, in Saturday’s Final.
Before Saturday’s Final, Seongnam Chunma will battle for third place against Brazilian side, Internacional, who lost out to Mazembe on Tuesday afternoon.
For Inter, who have suffered a little through inconsistency this season, the FIFA Club World Cup represents a good chance to boost morale. However, nothing short of victory this weekend will ease the pressure on manager Rafa Benitez: Inter are currently in 7th place in Italy’s Serie A, and missed out on winning their UEFA Champions League group to Tottenham Hotspur.
A win this weekend could be the catalyst to turn Inter’s season around, though there will be many hoping that the Champions can see the Club World Cup going to that continent for the first ever time.
FIFA Club World Cup Final 2010 takes place in Abu Dhabi at 18:00 (CET) on Saturday, 18th December 2010.
