Despite waiting 33 minutes to get off the mark, Chelsea ran out 7-0 winners in their FA Cup 2011 Third Round match against Ipswich Town at Stamford Bridge this afternoon.

Salomon Kalou opened the scoring on 33 minutes before Daniel Sturridge made it two nil with a smart back-heeled finish moments later.

The match appeared to be over for the visitors, who sacked their manager, Roy Keane, last week, when Carlos Edwards deflected a Frank Lampard free-kick into his own net 5 minutes from half time.

The sides came in with Chelsea, who have endured their worst run of league form in recent history of late, 3-0 up and with smiles on their faces once more.

These worrying signs for the visitors proved to be more than just ominous as Chelsea piled on four more goals in the second half.

Anelka got the goal his hard work in the first half had deserved within five minutes of the second period starting, and Sturridge added his second just three minutes later.

Frank Lampard bagged two goals in one minute to add some polish to the win – the first of which, on 78 minutes, was a fine, low shot from outside the area – vintage Lampard.

Ipswich will want to erase this match from the memory as quickly as possible, while Chelsea will try to use it to turn around their league performances.

Chelsea are rewarded with a tough all Premier League trip to Everton in the next round.
