There were more than two goals scored in each of the five Barclays Premier League matches which took place on the afternoon of Saturday 26th February 2011, in an entertaining set of fixtures.

Aston Villa 4-1 Blackburn
Aston Villa leapfrogged today’s opponents Blackburn, and climbed closer to a top half finish by winning 4-1 at Villa Park.
Ashley Young got the hosts off the mark with a 42nd minute penalty, before a Hanley own goal on 62 minutes doubled their lead. Stewart Downing scored two minutes later to make it 3-0 and put the result beyond doubt and, despite Kalinic (81) scoring for Blackburn, Ashley Young (82) got his second to restore the three goal cushion soon after.
The match finished 4-1, giving Villa the points which mean they are now 12th; Blackburn slide to 13th.
Everton 2-0 Sunderland
Everton joined the group of three clubs on 33 points, and took 10th spot in the league courtesy of a good 2-0 home win over Sunderland.
Everton had the 2-0 lead at half time, which they kept for the duration of the second half, courtesy of two Beckford (8, 39) goals.
Sunderland, who had their fair share of chances, despite Everton controlling most of the possession, drop a place to 8th in the league as a result of this loss.
Newcastle 1-1 Bolton
Newcastle and Bolton began the day in 9th and 8th places respectively, with one point between them, and they end it with Bolton up to 7th, while Newcastle remain 9th after the sides shared a point in an eventful 1-1 draw at St James Park.
Kevin Nolan delighted home support by scoring after 13 minutes, but Bolton equalised through on-loan Chelsea striker, Sturridge, on 38 minutes. When Ryan Taylor was sent off for Newcastle in the second half, it became a question of hanging on for a point, for the hosts, which they achieved. Newcastle could have got even more with a late surge of pressure, but failed to find the finishing touch.
Wigan 0-4 Man Utd
Man Utd looked every bit the Champions elect with a 4-0 away win at Wigan Athletic coming courtesy of goals from Hernandez (17, 74), Rooney (84) and Da Silva (87) in a match the Red Devils dominated from first to last.
Manchester United extended their lead at the top of the table to four points over Arsenal. All of the top four have played the same number of matches, too, so United have the title in their own hands at present.
Wigan, on the other hand, look to be deep in a relegation battle now, as this result places them second from bottom, albeit a point from safety.
Wolverhampton 4-0 Blackpool
Wolves collected three points with the emphatic win their recent matches had been threatening in defeating Blackpool, who are contriving to get pulled into a relegation scrap, 4-0 at Molineaux.
Wolverhampton’s victory came courtesy of goals from Jarvis (2), Jamie O’Hara (54) and a late Ebanks-Blake brace (78, 90). The three points – which were fully deserved as they controlled possession and hit the target 11 times in this match – mean that Wolves have clambered out of the drop zone.
Blackpool drop to 14th, just four points from the relegation places themselves.
