Football: Barclays Premier League Fixtures, Tuesday 25 January 2011

Two Barclays Premier League football fixtures are scheduled to take place on the evening of Tuesday, 25th January 2011, ahead of this weekend’s FA Cup 2011 Fourth Round break.

Blackpool v Man Utd – Kick-Off (GMT) 19:30

League leaders Manchester United will be looking to utilise their game-in-hand away at Blackpool in this fixture re-arranged as a result of the freezing December weather. United are two points ahead of Arsenal at the head of the table, and will stretch that to five with a result tonight. Blackpool, meanwhile, would climb five places from 12th to 7th should they become the first team this season to defeat their illustrious visitors.

Wigan v Aston Villa – Kick-Off (GMT) 19:45

Villa will be looking to capitalise on the momentum of Saturday’s important win against Manchester City, and put more daylight between them and the relegation positions by defeating Wigan, who were humbled by Arsenal on the weekend. Wigan would draw level on points with Aston Villa if they could pick up a home win here, so this is an imortant match in the context of the league, particularly when one considers that, if the season ended before today’s match, Wigan would be relegated, in 18th place.
