Football: Barclays Premier League Fixtures, Sunday 28 November 2010

Two Barclays Premier League fixtures are scheduled for Sunday, 28th November 2010, and both games feature teams who have serious designs on the top places in the table.

The first match of the day sees Newcastle take on Chelsea at St James Park. Newcastle United have called in extra staff to help clear the pitch following heavy snow showers this week in the North East of England, but the fixture is expected to go ahead unless there is significant snow this morning.

Chelsea are looking for a win to get back the top spot in the Premier League, which Man Utd claimed with their emphatic 7-1 victory at home to Blackburn yesterday, though Newcastle have produced some stunning performances of their own of late.

Andy Carroll will be a danger for the hosts, while Chelsea will hope Didier Drogba has better luck in front of goal than he has in recent games – the big striker looks due a few goals some time soon. Kick-off is 13:30 local time.

At 4pm (GMT), Tottenham  Hotspur have yet another big game – if they are to repeat last season’s performance and qualify for the UEFA Champions League again this term – as they host this year’s underachieving Liverpool team. Harry Redknapp’s side always produce in attack, so expect at least a goal from Spurs, but the question will be whether or not they can contain Liverpool at the other end. Gomes may prove to be the difference today, though whether this is as hero or villain will depend upon how Liverpool overcome their patchy attacking form.
