Football: Barclays Premier League Fixtures, Saturday 12 February 2011

Eight Barclays Premier League football matches are scheduled to take place on the afternoon and evening of Saturday 12th February 2011.

Man Utd v Man City – Kick-Off (GMT) 12:45

The day begins at Old Trafford, where league leaders Man Utd will look to get their title challenge back on track following last week’s 2-1 defeat to Wolves against bitter across-town rivals Man City, who sit third in the table. If City can win, they’ll close the gap between United and them to just two points, though they have played one extra game. A win for United would go a long way towards finishing their sky blue rival’s title bid for this season, at least. There’s plenty to play for in this, making it one of the biggest derbies in the calendar.

Arsenal v Wolverhampton – Kick-Off (GMT) 15:00

Arsenal know that a win against Wolves will see them either make up ground on Man Utd above them, or pull further away from Man City below them – or both – depending upon how the Manchester Derby plays out. They will also know that Wolves, who are still in the bottom three despite beating Manchester United last week, have a habit of saving their best football for matches against sides in the top four places in the league. After failing to capitalise on a 4-0 half-time lead away at Newcastle last week, The Gunners will be looking for three points from this home game.

Birmingham v Stoke – Kick-Off (GMT) 15:00

Birmingham and Stoke both picked up valuable wins last week, and will be looking to carry that form forward to this match at St Andrews. This game, featuring two quite similar sides, will be a close encounter.

Sunderland v Tottenham – Kick-Off (GMT) 17:30

The final match of Saturday sees Spurs travel to Sunderland’s Stadium of Light knowing that a win will put them in the UEFA Champions League Qualification places – if only for a day. Sunderland, however, were hugely unlucky not to pick up three points last week against Stoke, and Tottenham will have to be on their mettle to keep out the in-form Gyan and Richardson, who have been scoring goals freely of late.
