Football: Arsenal 1-0 Stoke City, Barclays Premier League 2010/11Result

Arsenal took another step towards the top of the Barclays Premier League with a hard fought 1-0 home win over Stoke City at the Emirates Stadium on the evening of Wednesday 23rd February 2011.

Arsenal clung onto the 1-0 lead the 8th minute goal from Squillaci gave them, by retaining the lion’s share of possession, though Stoke managed to work Szczesny in the Arsenal goal as many times – four – as Arsenal hit the Stoke target.

Arsenal, courtesy of these three points, are now just one point short of Manchester United, who sit atop the Premier League, though they have played one additional match. They are seven points ahead of Manchester City, who are third.

Arsenal’s next match in the Premier League is with Sunderland, who are 7th, on Saturday 5th March.

Stoke sit 10th in the league, on 33 points, they face West Brom on Monday 28th February.
