Man City have won the first silverware of the 2019/20 season, after lifting the 2020 Carabao Cup in an entertaining final at Wembley, which saw them run out 2-1 winners over Aston Villa.
John Terry’s Villa were denied a chance to draw level by an excellent Bravo save, after City had raced to a 2-0 lead through Aguero and Rodri, who both finished from inside the area.
Villa scored through Samatta a few minutes before half time, to give themselves hope of a comeback.
City lifted the trophy after a goalless second half, in a match they dominated in terms of possession and territory, but, as often this term, were less than comfortable owing to a lack of killer instinct – lots of shots off target, and a double-figure corner count spell forwards who are missing a finishing touch.
