Arsenal moved up into the all-important fourth spot following their win over Leicester. They will be hoping to consolidate this position, as they have 2-3 games in hand over the sides above and below them. Manchester United have a better chance of making the Champions League again this season than they did before the weekend, while their defeated opponents, Spurs, will be disappointed they did not maintain their recent good run of form in the push for the same position.
At the foot of the table, Leeds got a crucial three points at home to bottom side Norwich who look like they may be losing their grip on top-flight football at the end of this term.
Everton continued their dismal run, as they went down 1-0 at home to Wolves, who are hunting a UEFA slot at the other end of the table. Watford drew level with the Toffees on 22 points, after an absolutely vital three points away to Southampton.
Brentford’s home win over Burnley spells real trouble for their opponents, and puts a little daylight between themselves and the clubs at the bottom: they have a goal scorer in Toney, and this could prove to be the key to their season.
League leaders, Manchester City, will face Crystal Palace on Monday evening, to conclude this round of fixtures.
