The second two FA Carling Cup Quarter-Final football matches took place on the evening of Wednesday, 1st December 2010, with the results, as is becoming customary for the competition, both going to the sides which, based on league form, would have been least expected to win.

Birmingham 2-1 Aston Villa
Birmingham got the better of their bitter local rivals, Aston Villa, by scoring a late Zigic goal with four minutes of normal time remaining.
The home side had taken the lead through a 12th minute Larsson penalty, before Aston Villa got on level terms through a 30th minute Agbonlahor strike, before the match looked to be heading to extra time.
But Zigic settled the match in normal time by somehow working a Cameron Jerome cross home.
The end of the game was marred, somewhat, after a pitch invasion saw clashes between rival fans.
Birmingham will play West Ham in the Semi-Final of the 2011 Carling Cup.
Ipswich 1-0 West Brom
Championship outfit, Ipswich, saw off Premier League West Brom in a close encounter at Portman Road. The Tractor Boys won 1-0 via a controversial 69th minute penalty from Grant Leadbitter.
The penalty was awarded for a foul by Dorrans on Carlos Edwards on the edge of the penalty area. Referee Jones pointed to the spot despite protests from the Albion players, and Leadbitter was cool enough to score.
West Brom were denied the equaliser they looked to have secured by an excellent Brian Murphy save from the head of Pablo Ibanez, who looked to have earned his side a reprieve late on until an agile, one-handed, tip over the bar denied him.
Ipswich progress to the Carling Cup 2011 Semi-Final, where they will meet Arsenal.
