Capital One Cup 2013/14, Third Round Results

The Capital One Cup 2013/14 – the English League Cup – Third Round took place on the evenings of Tuesday 24th and Wednesday 25th September 2013, a round which saw a number of all=Premier League ties.

On Wednesday evening, a goal from Javier Hernandez was enough to give Man Utd a 1-0 home win over rivals Liverpool in the most high-profile fixture of the round. Meanwhile, Arsenal’s youngsters proved just good enough to see off West Brom, though they needed penalties to do so after a 1-1 draw at the Hawthorns.

Other notable performances include Manchester City’s 5-0 home demolition of Wigan Athletic on Tuesday evening, and The Championship’s Birmingham City, who were good value for their 3-1 home win over last season’s victors, Swansea City.

Also on Tuesday, Spurs looked solid in a 4-0 away victory over Aston Villa, while Leicester and Burnley of the Championship both put themselves into the last 16 with wins.
