Borussia Dortmund are known to have a good hand at spotting and successfully developing young prospects, so when they signed 17-year old Jude Bellingham from English second-tier club Birmingham City in the Summer of 2020, expectations were high. But surely no one could have predicted the meteoric rise of the young Englishman. The athletic box-to-box-midfielder became an instant success for Die Schwarzgelben, establishing himself as the best Newcomer of the 2020/21 season, scoring in the Bundesliga, UEFA Champions League and DFB Cup – the latter of which he even won as the first major title of his career.
