Aubameyang and Dembele sprinkle stardust to dazzle Leverkusen

On Matchday 23 of the 2016/17 season, Dortmund went head-to-head with Leverkusen. Just six minutes into a high-tempo game came the first stand-out moment when Ousmane Dembele fired past Bernd Leno for the opening goal. Leverkusen tried to respond, but Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored another to give Thomas Tuchel’s side a well deserved half-time lead. Leverkusen boss Roger Schmidt’s half-time rallying cry had an effect, though. Wendell superbly teed up Kevin Volland to pull one back just three minutes after the break. The pair traded chances before Aubameyang took one of them from a Dembele cross to make it 3-1. Wendell kept things on the boil, however, as he converted a direct free-kick just five minutes later, but the nail-biting finale never materialised as Christian Pulisic, Andre Schürrle and Raphael Guerreiro all struck to help Dortmund canter to a 6-2 win.
