Barclays Premier League 2011/12 Table, Sunday 25th September 2011

The table at the foot of this page shows how the Barclays Premier League table stood after the matches on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th September 2011 had concluded – Game Week Six of the 2011/12 season.

Manchester United remain top despite failing to win for the first time of the season as Stoke City held them to a 1-1 draw. They are joined on 16 points by neighbouring City, who picked up a 2-0 victory over Everton to remain unbeaten.

Chelsea are third, and began to get the wheels turning on their season with an impressive 4-1 victory over Swansea.

Newcastle United, perhaps surprisingly, currently hold the final UEFA Champions League position, after their impressive start to the season continued and saw them beat Blackburn 3-1 at St James’ Park on Saturday.

Blackburn find themselves at the wrong end of the table, however, as they sit 18th, in a group of three teams on 4 points, a point ahead of Bolton Wanderers, who continued their poor run of form in running out 3-0 losers at Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium on Saturday.

Two teams who did not play on Saturday and Sunday are Norwich and Sunderland, who face each other at Carrow Road on Monday evening.
