Football: Villa to Miss Petrov for Three Months

According to an interview with their club website, Aston Villa will miss Stiliyan Petrov for as much as three months, rather than the two initially thought, as a result of the player’s knee injury picked up against Sunderland last month.

Speaking to the website, Petrov said “the knee injury I picked up against Sunderland means I will be out for about three months.”

Petrov will hope to be back in action in February to contribute to his club’s league effort, which at present sees them well short of last year’s excellent finish. Villa currently sit in 14th in the Barclays Premier League.
