Football: UEFA Champions League Results, Wed 3rd November

Yesterday evening saw eight more UEFA Champions League matches as the teams in groups E, F, G and H were engaged in a round of fixtures.

In a free scoring evening – there were 32 goals scored in total from just eight matches, at an average of four goals per game – the headline match would hit that average exactly as AC Milan and Real Madrid shared four for 2-2 at the San Siro.

Arsenal found themselves on the wrong side of a turnaround in fortune as Shakhtar Donetsk, whom they had beaten 5-1 a fortnight ago, paid them back with a 2-1 win.

Chelsea are through to the latter stages and kept their 100% record with a good 4-1 win at home to Spartak Moscow, while Auxerre picked up a vital three points in Group G by winning 2-1 at home to Ajax: that difficult group is still wide open as a result.

Full results are below.

  1. Arsenal should really try to sustain their winning spirit and not underate a team based on an earlier performance. this was made evident in their second leg with Shakhtar.

  2. it is really sad that Arsenal couldnt sustain the supremacy exhibited in their first encounter with Shakhtar Donesk. There is no doubt about qualification but they need to maintain and sustain their psychological warfare.
