Manchester United put the news that Wayne Rooney is intent on leaving the club behind them this evening with a 1-0 home victory over Turkish side Bursaspor in UEFA Champions League Group C.
United, who have been relatively unconvincing in Europe this term, despite now having collected seven points from three matches played, defeated their opponents courtesy of a fabulous strike from Nani, who cut in from the left before curling a shot into the top corner of Ivankov’s goal in the seventh minute.
Man Utd had played a team with its power on the bench, however, and were well within themselves for much of this game – though manager Alex Ferguson would surely have hoped for more than the slender 1-0 scoreline they finished up with.
Obertan and Hernandez – both of whom joined the field of play as substitutes – both missed good opportunities in a second half which saw the visitors fail to make any impression on the Manchester defence.
United now control Group C with seven points after Glasgow Rangers played out a 1-1 draw at home to Valencia – one more win should be enough to see United safely through the opening round, despite having failed to produce many special moments thus far in the competition.
1-0 is enough for three points, however, and that is what the Red Devils take from this otherwise uninspiring matchup.

Manchester United is rather soulless this season. Last Night’s performance was lackluster. Unfortunately that’s what as fans we have come to expect. The team seems to have lost its hunger for glory! The entire game was uninspiring.
At this rate, even getting to the last 16 will be a plus! The million dollar question is this: what is going on in the dressing room? Has Ferguson outlived his usefulness? Should Man U be looking for a new manager?
