The hamstring injury suffered by Joe Cole in Liverpool’s 1-0 Barclays Premier League home win over Bolton will see the player miss at least two weeks of football, according to club doctor, Dr Peter Brukner.
The injury, though described as “not serious” by Brukner doesw mean that Cole will miss playing against his former club, Chelsea, on Sunday, in one of the most important fixtures of the season so far.
Liverpool have recently steadied their ship somewhat by picking up a couple of hard-fought league victories since the protracted sale of the club to NESV went through a fortnight ago.
The club, which had found itself in the bottom three of the league, now sits just five points away from the UEFA Champions League places its fans so desire.
The injury to Cole will no doubt be a concern to manager Roy Hodgson, who has employed the player on the left-hand side of midfield in the majority of games since the season began, despite Cole being dismissed in his debut match for the club.
If his recovery goes as anticipated, Joe Cole should be fit to play in the home league match against West Ham on Saturday, 20th November 2010.
