According to Arsenal’s club website, the Gunners manager Arsene Wenger is a big fan of Newcastle United’s 21 year old centre forward, Andy Carroll.
After an impressive start to the season, Carroll last week pleaded guilty to an assault in Newcastle night club, Blu Bamboo, but it was his “presence” on the field that has caught the eye of Arsenal’s famous French manager.
Speaking ahead of tonight’s Carling Cup fixture between the sides, Wenger told the Arsenal site:
“On the pitch he has a presence and a charisma,”
“This guy is just scared of nothing and that’s why I believe he has special charisma. It looks like he can [carry the weight on his shoulders].”
“You just think there is something there for him from watching from the outside.”
Arsenal are due to face Newcastle at St James’ Park this evening in the FA Carling Cup fourth round. Kick-off is 19:45 BST.
