Run out study – standing in front or behind the stumps?

It’s one of those debates which crops up on a regular basis, infuriating some of cricket’s traditionalists – and it could hold the key to a crucial dismissal in any form of the game, from a weekend club fixture to the final of the 2019 World Cup.

So the England wicketkeeping coach Bruce French called in some scientific back-up, to investigate the most efficient way of collecting a throw in pursuit of a run out.
