ICC Cricket World Cup 2011: West Indies Beat Netherlands by 215 Runs

Almost all of the West Indies team made a positive contributuion with the bat en route to wrapping up a huge win over the Netherlands in their ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 group game on Monday, 28th February 2011.

The crowd in Delhi also got to witness the first hat-trick of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 as Kemar Roach struck a fantastic late triple to remove the last three Dutch batsmen.

Having set 330 for 8 wickets in their 50 overs, West Indies then removed the Dutch for 115 All Out in 31.3 overs, meaning West Indies won by 215 runs.

Netherlands won the toss and elected to field.

Smith (53), Gayle (80) and Pollard (60) all made half centuries, but failed to convert these into three figures for the West Indies, while Seelaar was the pick of the Netherlands bowlers, recording reasonable figures of 3 for 45 from 10 overs.

West Indies made a total of 330 for 8 from the full 50 overs.

When the Netherlands came into bat, only Cooper (55 Not Out) offered any resistance from his position of number three, though Bukhari (24) in at number eight performed better than those above him. Cooper eventually ran out of batting partners with the score on 115, from 31.3 overs.

Roach did most of the damage for the West Indies, collecting great figures of 6 for 27 from 8.3 overs, in the process picking up a terrific hat-trick to skittle out the last three Dutch batsmen, with straight -forward bowling at the wickets: LBW, LBW, bowled.
