Coming off the back of two frustrating draws against Adrien Broner and Thomas Dulorme, Jessie Vargas looked to make a big statement on the undercard of #RugvisaiEstrada2, stepping up to face veteran two-division World Champion Humberto Soto.
Mexico’s Soto, who had only been dropped once in his 80 career fights, proved a rugged opponent for the bigger Vargas, who moved up in weight to meet at a 151lb catchweight. Both fighters shot out of the blocks looking to deliver damage early, and proved to be one of Vargas’ best performances in recent years.
