Defending women’s champion and number one seed for the 2010 Australian Open Tennis, Serena Williams, made it through her Quarter Final after staging an unlikely comeback.
Williams eventually lifted this match 4-6, 7-6 (7-4), 6-2.
The American showed her mettle by coming back from one set to love down, and take the second set on a tiebreaker. Williams had gone four games to love down in this second set before pulling out her ‘A’ game and taking back both breaks before winning the breaker 7-4 from her opponent Victoria Azarenka.
Serena then took the final set 6-2 to make yet another Grand Slam Semi-Final.
The way Azarenka, the 7th seeded Belarussian, got a start today must surely offer hope to Williams’ next opponent, Li Na, who knocked sibling Venus out in her quarter final. However, the manner of Serena’s comeback, and the tennis she produced to achieve it must surely worry the second ever Chinese semi-finalist: there are few players who can cope with Serena Williams when she is going for the lines, and hitting them.
