The Australian Sports Anti-Doping Agency has recognised the two-year sporting ban imposed on Oskars Sarkans by the International Natural Bodybuilding Association.
The INBA is an organisation founded in South California by Denny Kakos and holds a number of competitions, including Natural Olympia and Natural Universe, to highlight the achievements of “natural” bodybuilders with a commitment to Olympic standards of anti-doping and healthy physiques.
In a statement, ASADA said:
Metabolites of stanozolol (anabolic agent), metabolites of tamoxifen (hormone antagonist and modulator), Hydrochlorothiazide (diuretic), and Amiloride (diuretic) were detected in a sample ASADA collected in-competition from Mr Sarkans at the INBA’s Brisbane Natural Classic on 29
May 2011.Mr Sarkans’s ban means he is ineligible to participate, as an athlete or support person, in any sport that has adopted a World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) compliant anti-doping policy until 22 July 2013.
ASADA warns that hormones and anabolic chemicals can cause heart, liver and fertility problems in athletes and encourages any sports people who are unsure of which substances are banned to check the ASADA website for more information.
