There was a lot to feel good about for Zac Taylor and the Cincinnati Bengals following their 37-30 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday afternoon.
Despite missing Joe Mixon for half the game and still without top receiver Ja’Marr Chase, Burrow would have another big game finding six different Bengals with 20-yards or more in receptions on the day. Tee Higgins led the way with nine catches for a season-high 148 yards, Trenton Irwin recorded his first NFL career touchdown, and Tyler Boyd came up big in the second half when needed most.
While all three Bengals receivers enjoyed their moments, it was running back Samaje Perine, with three receiving touchdowns, who stepped forward in Mixon’s absence.
But it wasn’t just the offense that stepped forward, as all three game phases saw top performances. Cam Taylor-Britt led the defense in tackles, while Trey Hendrickson and Sam Hubbard put pressure on Steelers rookie quarterback Kenny Pickett.
Special teams welcomed Drue Chrisman in his first NFL regular season action, and he delivered after being tapped to replace Kevin Huber leading up to Sunday’s action. Chrisman had three punts with a long of 62-yards early in the game. In the end, he averaged 50-yards per punt with two inside the twenty while also being solid in holding for Evan McPherson, who went 3-for-3 with a long of 54-yards on the day.
