Dave Lapham In The Trenches published this video item, entitled “D.J. Reader Suffers Injury – Out Rest of Jets Game” – below is their description.
Late in the second quarter of the Cincinnati Bengals match-up against the New York Jets, veteran defensive lineman D.J. Reader left the game with an apparent knee injury and was instantly ruled out for the remainder of the game.
Reader, who has become a key clog in defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo’s defense, joined the Bengals in 2020 but missed most of the season with a quad injury.
While no official word has been given on the injury, from the look on Reader’s face on the Bengals sideline after the injury, he seemed disappointed and concerned about what might be ahead.
Any loss of Reader for an extended time would be a significant loss to the Bengals defense. Josh Tupou took the place of Reader in the game and has proven himself a reliable run-stuffer. Tupou signed with the Bengals as a college free agent in 2017 and played in all 17 regular-season games with nine starts last season.
