Sebastian Vettel won the 2013 Canadian Grand Prix on Sunday by a huge margin of 14.4 seconds. The German streaked ahead of the field with only a slight touch of the wall, one misjudged corner and some traffic upon lapping to break up the uncontested lead in the race.
Despite pushing right until the end, Vettel lost the fastest lap to his team mate, Mark Webber, who took the consolation prize despite a damaged front wing.Webber later finished fourth.
Fernando Alonso edged past Lewis Hamilton in the closing stages to take second place and received the loudest cheer by far from the Ferrari supporting crowd in Montreal.
Sadly, the FIA later announced that a worker, who had been assisting the crane removal of Esteban Gutierrez’s car, had been involved in an accident at the track and later died. The worker had dropped his radio, attempted to pick it up and stumbled into the path of a crane. He was taken to Sacre-Coeur Hospital by helicopter, but succumbed to his injuries. The FIA have not released the identity of the man.
