Does tech reduce or widen health inequalities? What does it take for patients to accept digital tech in their health advice? How can we help people find trustworthy online information? Professor Lucy Yardley lays out her view for the future of digital technology in public health.
In this talk, Professor Yardley examines current digital support for behaviour change. With a wide range of health information now available online, it is becoming harder for patients to identify trustworthy sources of support for weight loss, smoking cessation or other lifestyle changes. She discusses what it takes to nudge someone into healthy behaviours, and create an environment that prompts and supports good health for everyone.
Professor Lucy Yardley is Professor of Health Psychology at the Centre for Applications of Health, University of Southampton, and the School of Experimental Psychology, University of Bristol.
