The 2022 The Lancet and the Academy of Medical Sciences International Health Lecture was presented by Professor Victor J. Dzau, President of the National Academy of Medicine (NAM), formerly known as the Institute of Medicine (IOM), in the United States.

In this lecture, Professor Dzau discussed the threats to academic medicine in a rapidly changing environment and examine how new approaches will be necessary for its future.

Professor Dzau was joined by a global expert panel who gave short talks:

Professor Rakhi Dandona, Professor, Public Health Foundation of India; Professor of Health Metrics Sciences, Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME), University of Washington

Professor Adeeba Kamarulzaman, Professor of Medicine and Infectious Diseases, and Former Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya

Professor Iain Buchan, Chair in Public Health and Clinical Informatics, and Associate Pro Vice Chancellor for Innovation, University of Liverpool
