Fifteen people have been reported dead in the Philippines after a magnitude 6.7 earthquake at 11:49 am local time on 6th February 2012. A further 52 people are injured and 71 people missing. Initial tsunami warnings have now been cancelled after unusual sea level changes around the Negros and Cebu islands. The offshore earthquake had a depth of 10km but caused landslides in La Libertad, Sitio Moog, Brgy Planas and Guihulngan. Public school classes have been cancelled in Negros Oriental, which was closest to the earthquake. Several bridges in Negros Oriental were damaged and the water supply affected. Sea travel was only affected for around 2 hours following the earthquake.
