Viktor Orban’s Hungary is the enfant terrible of Europe. However, Orban is absurdly popular in his country: more than four electoral victories in a row, all of them by absolute majority. In the case of the 2022 elections, we are talking about a victory against a coalition that encompassed (almost) all opposition political forces: from the extreme right of Jobbik to the left-wing Greens. Nevertheless, Orban and his party, FIDESZ, have once again swept the floor with more than 50% of the vote.

Of course freedom of speech in Hungary is not a strong point. Moreover, the elections are not as squeaky clean as they should be. However, no one can deny that Hungary is a democracy. And that Orban is the legitimate winner of the elections. As much as this man has critics everywhere, the reality is that Viktor Orban is truly popular in his country. The question is why? What are the positives of his government? Why do so many Hungarians support him? In this video we tell you.

Voting is a method for a group, such as a meeting or an electorate, in order to make a collective decision or express an opinion usually following discussions, debates or election campaigns. Democracies elect holders of high office by voting. Residents of a place represented by an elected official are called “constituents”, and those constituents who cast a ballot for their chosen candidate are called “voters”. There are different systems for collecting votes, but while many of the systems used in decision-making can also be used as electoral systems, any which cater for proportional representation can only be used in elections.

In smaller organizations, voting can occur in different ways. Formally via ballot to elect others for example within a workplace, to elect members of political associations or to choose roles for others. Informally voting could occur as a spoken agreement or as a verbal gesture like a raised hand or electronically.
