The US Vice President, Joe Biden will visit China from 17th – 22nd August 2011. There he will meet his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping.
Biden is visiting China at the invitation of Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping in the first of series of planned reciprocal visits between the two vice presidents that was announced during Chinese President Hu Jintao’s state visit to Washington earlier this year, according to the White House.
President Obama welcomed President Hu to the White House on 19th January, saying that the United States and China “have an enormous stake in each other’s success. In an interconnected world, in a global economy, nations — including our own — will be more prosperous and more secure when we work together.”
While in China, the vice president will meet with Vice President Xi and other Chinese leaders, including President Hu and Premier Wen Jiabao, to consult on a broad range of bilateral, regional and global issues. The vice president will also visit the city of Chengdu, in China’s Southwest.
