The Swedish Minister for Foreign Affairs, Carl Bildt, is in Beijing to meet business leaders and hold political talks.
Mr Bildt will participate in the Stockholm China Forum and engage in discussions via China’s answer to Twitter, Sina Weibo.
Mr Bildt said of the trip:
“It is an interesting time to visit Beijing and to discuss developments in the country and the region as well as relations between China, Europe and the US. The Stockholm China Forum is an excellent platform for such discussions. The fact that the meeting is being held for the first time in Beijing, and so soon after the Chinese leadership shift, naturally offers the opportunity to deepen the discussion further.”
The Stockholm China Forum was established in 2007. This year’s meeting is being funded by The German Marshall Fund, the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs, China Institute of International Studies and The Riksbankens Jubileumsfond.
