May.26 — New York City has hired more than 1,700 so-called contact tracers, who will be trained and in action by June 1, Mayor Bill de Blasio said. He says 2,500 should be hired by mid-June. He also says phase one of the city’s reopening plan will begin in the first or second week of June.
