Can COLOMBIA be LATAM’s big surprise? – VisualPolitik EN

Colombia is the second most populous country in South America and the fourth largest in the entire American continent, but Colombia is a particularly complicated country: drug traffickers, guerrillas, violence, Venezuelan emigration… Many issues pose enormous challenges for this country’s future and stability.

In this context, on August 7th 2018, Ivan Duque was sworn in as President of Colombia with a very ambitious promise given the circumstances: to get the country in shape and prepare it for a rapid development process.

Since Iván Duque rose to power, enough time has passed for us here on VisualPolitik to ask ourselves some questions:

What is the true political strategy of Duque’s government? That is, how do they aim to transform Colombia? Can they do what they say? What could be the legacy of his passage through Casa Nariño – the Colombian White House?

In this video we’ll explain the foundations of Ivan Duque’s economic strategy and how he aims to transform Colombia. Subscribe to our channel to see future videos, where we’ll talk about other political issues beyond the economy.

In This Story: Colombia

Colombia, officially the Republic of Colombia, is a transcontinental country largely in the north of South America, with territories in North America. Colombia is bounded on the north by the Caribbean Sea, the northwest by Panama, the south by Ecuador and Peru, the east by Venezuela, the southeast by Brazil, and the west by the Pacific Ocean.

The capital is Bogotá, the country’s largest city. With over 50 million inhabitants Colombia is one of the most ethnically and linguistically diverse countries in the world. The Republic of Colombia was declared in 1886. Panama seceded in 1903.

Colombia’s territory encompasses Amazon rainforest, highlands, grasslands, and deserts, and it is the only country in South America with coastlines and islands along both the Atlantic and Pacific.
